Makuhari Messe II, North HallCompletion Date:1997
Building on the success of local and international events of the project’s first phase (Makuhari Messe I), Makuhari Messe II (North Hall) extends the conference and exhibition zone to the adjacent site. In contrast to Messe I’s silhouette - formed in the image of a mountain range - the roofscape of Phase II is a combination of both convex and concave curves. The dynamic skyline created from these juxtaposed geometries gives a new identity to the ever-changing waterfront landscape at Makuhari, while expanding capacity and flexibility.
