Construction begins for Tottori Prefectural Museum of Art

A prefectural museum of art developed by a PFI(Private Finance Initiative) and delivered via a BTO (Build-Transfer-Operate) method. The project spans 20 years, including a designated management period by the private sector. In addition to traditional functions of an art museum, the facility is designed to be a cultural and communal hub with multiple uses. The site is located in Kurayoshi City, Tottori Prefecture, in Kurayoshi Park Square, adjacent to the Omido Abandoned Temple Ruins which is a National Historic Site. While the facility opens to the square on the south, a central “Hiroma” open space catalyzes the movement and circulation of visitors, illustrating a diverse and vibrant viewing sequence.
